Slack
was founded in 1992 by a group of a dozen friends in Brighton.
They started by putting on one off
parties but soon started a regular monthly monday night, and then
eventually put on parties and mini-festivals up and down the country.
Slack will probably be most remembered
for their monthly at the warehouse in Brighton. Each month the club
would be transformed with a differant theme. And afterwards there
would usually be an allnighter either on Brighton beach, or in some
empty building.
Their reputation for putting on
succesfull outdoor/free events, grew and they began to do more mini-festivals
envolving soundsystems from around the country including D.I.Y.
Smokescreen, Positive Sounds and BabyBoom.
After a few years of doing the Warehouse
in Brighton, Slack began doing larger events in London. With a few
of their number being recruted to do a night at Heaven which eventually
employed all of Slack's number at one time or another, be it to
D.J. dress the club, or run promotion.
